Exciting news from the ID Card Services Office! We are officially announcing the renaming of the UO ID Card! The University of Oregon’s ID card will now proudly be known as the "Flock Card." This will give our card its own official name and will support our campus initiatives. Stay tuned for more details and updates to come. This web page will be your information center for where we are in the process.
The Why
Over the past few years, we have noticed a consistent issue of campus community members not knowing what to call the UO ID card. With Duck IDs (university emails), UO ID numbers (95* numbers), and other similar names, it’s finally time we have our own. Those new to the university often have a challenging time with the different names, so we hope that with the Flock Card, we will improve this experience for our community as they join our Flock.
Where We are Now
The name change of the card has been approved, and we are beginning with a slow move on releasing the update. We are very excited about this process and want to do our Flock Card justice. The transition to the new name will begin to change in various places. For now we will include some format of University/Student ID Card when referencing it.
The new card will first be issued to incoming students during IntroDUCKtion in summer 2025. Current students, faculty and staff will not be required to replace their existing cards.
Upcoming Projects
In tandem with the name change, the Flock Card will have a new design! The current green UO ID design was created by a UO student, and we will continue that tradition by holding a design competition for the new card. All Flock Cards will have the winning design. The contest is running now through Friday, December 20, 2024.
All entries will be reviewed by early January 2025, with the winning design announced during the last week of January.
