EMU Writable Surfaces Policy

Title: EMU Writable Surfaces Policy

Policy number: 201819-4

Owners: EMU Facilities for public spaces, UO Scheduling and Event Service for meeting rooms

Policy language:

Writable surfaces such as chalk boards, glass walls, or white boards located in EMU meeting rooms and interior public spaces are not to be used for advertising or promotional content.

Writable surfaces are those spaces designated for use as writable surfaces. Glass walls, windows, partitions, or other architectural features are not considered writable surfaces unless explicitly designated.

UO Scheduling and Event Services or the EMU Director will designate writable services and may provide exemptions upon request.

Surfaces are cleaned regularly to provide a clean, functional, and welcoming environment for guests. The EMU has the discretionary authority to clean all writable surfaces.

Comments and complaints about writable services in the EMU will be directed to UO Scheduling and Event Services. UO Scheduling and Event Services will respond to any comments and/or complaints brought by the public related to writable surfaces as described in this policy.

Violation of this policy may result in sanctions from UO Scheduling and Event Services. Sanctions may range from verbal or written notification, temporary withdrawal of an individual or organizations’ permission to advertise in or around the EMU, or up to and including permanent removal of permission to advertise in or around the EMU. Violations will be brought to UO Scheduling and Event Services for review and potential sanctioning.

EMU Director can act as an appeal in these processes.
