Policy language: Scheduling and Event Services and EMU Administration facilitate access to advertising in public spaces administered by the EMU. Advertising may include ground stakes, lobby display, posters/flyers, sandwich boards, table tents, EMU banner space, and digital displays. Use of this resource is limited to UO student organizations, university departments, and EMU tenants.
The EMU has the discretionary authority to remove or limit advertising based on capacity and compliance.
The EMU will not accept advertisements that violate university policy, state and/or federal law, or copyright agreements. In addition, the University of Oregon is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity employer. As such, the University is required by federal and state laws and UO Administrative Policy to post reasonable accommodation statement on all publications and notices, including events that are open to the public, employees, or students. It is the responsibility of the requestor to ensure adherence to these requirements.
Solicitation of a commercial nature; distribution of handbills, pamphlets, and similar materials; and selling of goods or services in EMU facilities are prohibited unless these activities have been previously approved and scheduled by Scheduling and Event Services.
Scheduling and Event Services is the contact for all advertising in the EMU except for digital displays, which are handled by EMU Administration.
Scheduling and Event Services will respond to any comments and/or complaints brought to their attention related to advertising materials as described in this policy.
Violation of this policy may result in sanctions. Sanctions may range from verbal or written notification, temporary withdrawal of an organization’s permission to advertise in or around the EMU, or up to and including permanent removal of permission to advertise in or around the EMU. Violations will be brought to UO Scheduling and Event Services for review and potential sanctioning.
EMU Director can act as an appeal in this process. Violations may be referred to the appropriate office for review.
