What are spaces assigned by Administrative Space Allocation and Review Committee (ASpARC)?
These are spaces with administrative oversight that provide programs and services to the university community. Historically assigned by the EMU director, they are now allocated through the ASpARC committee process via recommendations to the EMU director and Student Life.
Who is eligible to apply for EMU ASpARC spaces?
University of Oregon departments and programs. (Note: ASUO Student Organizations and vendors/retail entities follow separate processes.)
How do I apply for ASpARC space?
A Qualtrics application will be available via the EMU Administrative Space Allocation and Review Committee website.
Before you apply:
- Confirm that your administrative home supports the request, including the appropriate dean/director/associate vice president/vice president
- Review budget and staffing needs (e.g., furnishing, office staffing)
- Review other spaces on campus that may meet your needs
What are the expectations for organizations with ASpARC spaces?
- Maintain regular office hours, with spaces open at least:
- Centers and student-facing services: 40 hours per week/eight hours a day when classes are in session and during IntroDUCKtion
- Stand-alone spaces: 35 hours per week/seven hours a day when classes are in session and during IntroDUCKtion
- Individual offices: 20 hours per week/four hours per day
- Collaborate with other university programs and services
- Participate in annual surveys and evaluations
- Take part in EMU building-wide activities (e.g., Open Houses, Town Halls)Track and share data on services provided and community connections
- Sign an annual MOU outlining rights, responsibilities and applicable fees
- Attend annual space users meeting
- Compliance with university and EMU policies and EMU procedures
- Maintain safe and secure working environment.
- Ability to appropriately resources space (furniture, supplies, staffing, etc.)
What are the benefits of having EMU ASpARC space?

How do I appeal a decision made by AsPARC or the EMU director?
An appeal to the Vice President of Student Life is available for decisions by emailing the AsPARC chair or EMU director.
