Volunteering with the SSC
Get involved with the SSC! We offer many opportunities to participate with all our student-led initiatives, from one-time volunteer events to our term- or year-long leadership development program. Volunteer opportunities can range from working at the Produce Drops, getting your hands dirty at the Grove Garden, attending work parties on the river with our Habitat Restoration team, to facilitating activities that help reduce climate anxiety. SSC Leadership and Engagement Program
Students who want to get involved with the SSC also have the option to become a part of the SSC’s Leadership and Engagement Program. Students who participate will join one of the SSC’s program teams throughout the term and work with a group of other students who are interested in the same topic. The LEP is accepting volunteers for this term and academic year! Fill out our volunteer interest form to be notified about our upcoming LEP orientations.

1:00–2:30 p.m.
Join the SSC Climate Anxiety & Resiliency and Waste & Reusable Programs for a Book Swap on Friday, November 22nd from 1:00-2:30 PM! We will be exchanging books, resources, and connections in an effort to reduce waste and practice sustainability within our communities. Learn about other resources on-campus and beyond for free books, textbooks, and more! We hope to see you there :)
10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
This is an on-campus opportunity to join a team of volunteers in restoring critical riparian habitat on campus. No experience needed! This is a great opportunity to meet new people, spend time outside, and learn about yourself and the outdoors through contributing to our vision to restore and bolster native habitat in the Willamette River Natural Area (WRNA) to improve habitat connectivity for wildlife. In order to have fun and be safe, please come prepared with close toed shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and a water bottle. All other necessary materials will be provided.

4:00–5:30 p.m.
Join us for coffee and Eco-Poetry! This workshop will be an introduction to Eco-Poetry, providing a space for people to imagine an environmentally just future and process climate grief. All levels of writing experience are welcome. Together, we will learn about Eco-Poetry while writing as a collective and take a close look at poems by Joy Harjo, Ross Gay, and Yusef Komunyakaa.

Join the Climate Anxiety and Resiliency Program for Climate Cafés! During this fall term, keep an eye out for an extra booth at the Produce Drop - we will be there to provide a space to talk about our climate concerns, learn about resources on campus, and utilize community-building activities to foster resilience and hope! Enjoy snacks, fresh produce, mindfulness coloring, and more! All are welcome to stop by- we hope to see you there!

This panel will feature Indigenous leaders and allies speaking on the pivotal role of indigenous science, culture, and political leadership in the removal of 4 dams along the Klamath River.

Ron Reed - traditional Karuk fisherman and ceremonial leader Jeff Mitchell - chairman of the Klamath Tribes culture and heritage committee Glen Spain - Northwest Regional Director of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Association
Light food will be provided. Doors at 5pm, program to begin around 5:15pm.
