Did you hold a student organization officer/leadership position? Are you graduating Winter 2024, Spring 2024, Summer 2024, Fall 2024? To be eligible for a Student Organization Leadership Cord a student must:
be graduating Winter 2024, Spring 2024, Summer 2024, Fall 2024, be in a UO Student Club that is officially registered or recognized and verified through the Engage system, hold a Student Leadership position and that position should be indicated in the Engage system, fill out the form completely, submit it by July 1, 2024, and have not been given a student organization leadership cord in a previous year.Cords can be picked up or mailed to you, your choice. The Craft Center is excited to welcome our spring 2024 visiting artist, Frank Gosar. Frank has been creating pottery for over 30 years as Off Center Ceramics. His work will be on view in the Craft Center Gallery from April 1 - June 7.
Frank will also be teaching two workshops with the Craft Center this term, "Brush Making and Ceramic Painting" and "Potter's Tool Kit." For more information or to register, please visit https://craftcenter.uoregon.edu/workshops.

May is officially Bike Month in Lane County - so mark your calendars and get your bike ready to ride! Nationally celebrated since 1956, Bike Month has been celebrated in Lane County since 2014. Throughout the month, community members are invited to bike for fun, exercise, errands, and trips around town.
This May is Bike Month, there are even more reasons to hop on your bike! Get ready for a kick-off party at Oakshire Brewing, a fun passport with prizes, a bike month challenge, a bike film fest, and fun rides, among other happenings. Keep your eyes peeled for this year’s Bike Month poster and fill-out your Bike Month passport to win swag including bells, pins, mugs, and bandanas - all designed by local artist Erick Wonderly. Come by the Student Sustainability Center's Trillium Plus Produce Drop! Students who qualify can get free fruits, vegetables, bread and more for free. Distribution starts at 2:45pm and will continue until food runs out, usually around 5pm. Bring a reuseable bag and your student ID!

Nasreen Alkhateeb is an award winning filmmaker whose work illuminates historically excluded voices. By illuminating racial injustice, disability inequity, marginalized youth, the first woman VP, and the largest telescope NASA has ever constructed, Nasreen thrives as a leader in films that shift our culture. Utilizing a plethora of lenses, her ability to motivate audiences is a direct result of approaching story through multiple identities: multi-heritage, Black, Iraqi, Disabled (chronic pain + neurodivergent), raised Muslim, LGBTQIA+, and 1st Generation, born in Oakland California.
As a Director of Photography, Nasreen has lensed Kamala Harris’ successful Vice Presidential campaign, Oprah’s Emmy award series Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, Netflix’s Unknown Cosmic Time Machine, and the Black women who revolutionized fashion. She executive produced East of the River that was supported by Tribeca Film Festival, and she directed campaigns for NASA and the Women’s March, in addition to lensing scripted films centering Gay and Disabled lead characters. Nasreen was awarded Cinematographer of the Year by NASA for her coverage of Operation IceBridge.
Nasreen is a Visions mentee of the American Society of Cinematographers, a fellow of the Ford & Mellon Foundation’s Disability Futures, a fellow of The Disruptors, a fellow of Sundance’s Accessible Futures Intensive, an alumni of the RespectAbility Lab, and a fellow of the WIF Creative Circle. Nasreen has participated in the SUNDANCE Film Festival and developed programming for AFI DOCS, the Nantucket Film Festival, the Brooklyn International Film Festival, CINE, TIVA, and the EMMYS. She helped lead the 2022 RespectAbility LAB, dedicated to introducing twenty Disabled writers, and directors to studios like Disney, Sony, Lionsgate, Dreamworks and Warner Brothers.

Learn the joy of fixing your own bicycle with in-depth instruction from Bike Program mechanics. This six-session course will teach you to repair and maintain a standard road, mountain, or commuter bike including lessons on flat fixes, hub overhauls, wheel truing, bottom brackets, brakes, drivetrains, and derailleurs.
This course goes from Weeks 3-8 on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm. It starts April 16th and ends May 21st. This class meets at the OP Bike Program (EMU 008). This class is open to students and community-members.

Join the Outdoor Program as UO alumna and author Heidi Beierle takes center stage to share insights into her memoir, Heidi Across America. A gritty story of how opening your heart to others enables you to open your heart to yourself, Heidi’s story is a depiction of homecoming to self and nation. As a student at the UO the summer of 2010 when she pedaled solo across the country to study bicycle tourism and rural economic development. This memoir captures the transformative personal journey Heidi experienced during her ride and offers insight about getting unstuck in life, learning to love the remarkable person you are, and finding space in your heart for America.

Celebrate spring with the Student Sustainability Center’s Habitat Restoration team in Hendricks Park at our forest restoration work parties!! This May, we will be meeting Sunday mornings 5/12 and 5/26 10am-noon.
Meet us in the parking lot/picnic area in Hendricks Park- the intersection of Floral Hill Dr. and Fairmount Blvd.- for a morning of forest restoration and community building! Work parties include plant ID, invasive species removal, and native species reintroduction.
Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes and long pants, and bring a water bottle. All other equipment will be provided. There is no prior experience necessary- we will provide safety training and teach effective restoration methods!

Come climb with us at Elevation Bouldering Gym in downtown Eugene for BIPOC night! This event is for all self-identifying BIPOC students. Transportation, Entrance, gear, and chalk bags will be free, just wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle.

Adventure sports are very exciting but we also know that they can be intimidating! Especially for people who have been historically underrepresented in the outdoors, it can be daunting to try something new. Join us on an FTW (femme, trans, women, non-binary) kayak trip down the Willamette River! All levels are welcome and no experience is necessary.

Join the Outdoor Program on a trip to Oregon's clearest lake: Waldo! Where's Waldo? At the top of the Willamette watershed! This beautiful lake will be great to enjoy on a kayak or stand up paddle board (SUP).
